Banner|Aetna Names Joanne Mizell as Chief Operating Officer

New Health Plan Company Appoints Industry Veteran to Oversee Operations

PHOENIX –Banner|Aetna, the Arizona health plan jointly owned by Banner Health and Aetna, announced that Joanne Mizell has been named chief operating officer (COO), effective immediately.

In this new role, Mizell, will oversee operations of the organization and support the execution of the strategic goals set out by Banner|Aetna’s board of directors and chief executive officer. With BannerIAetna’s focus on high-quality, cost-effective patient care, she will execute the organization’s mission of helping employers improve the health and well-being of their workforce, while simplifying the “coverage to care to payment” of health care for its members.

Prior to this new position, Mizell was the head of voluntary sales and strategy for national accounts for Aetna, and before that, market head for the West region at Aetna. Most recently, she was a senior vice president at Willis Towers Watson as a broker/adviser for the international brokerage firm.
